We were out for a walk yesterday and found the the town bridge closed off by police and fire engines. Apparently a young man had jumped. My wife decided to phone family members in case they thought it was me. Although they had heard about the incident, it never occurred to them it could be me. I suppose that’s partly because I always play the superficial clown and don’t reveal anything about myself and partly because things like madness are never discussed in the family.
