Huge thanks to all who commented on my last post and to everyone on Raisetheriver for their kind comments following my Mtt cash on Saturday night. It seems these things are like Glasgow buses ( you wait ages and they all arrive at the same time) as congrats are due to Rosie for taking first in a weekend Mtt for a nice score,to Mair for winning the live APAT Event for Raisetheriver and to Mr Cloud over at Hairygymnast.com on taking a shot at a higher level sng and scudding the fish to win it. A feelgood weekend if ever there was one!I've downloaded the whole hand history ( all 7 hours 31 mins ) and will try and pick out a few of the more interesting hands to look at in future posts.( just be grateful I don't plan to make a video of it!)First of all I should probably thank the poker gods for...
As per my edit to the monthly stats post, I played five $16's without cashing on Monday night which left me up only $423 for the month of June.I suppose it's still a winning month and I shouldn't complain too much.It was just frustrating as I've been making a lot more in recent months and with a week off work too,I was really hoping to reach at least the $1k mark.My main achievement in June was knocking one of my hero's,Jennifear ( Punkinbear on Stars) out of a $16 turbo. I managed to resist acting like a starstruck fanboy and stuck to a quick "gg"!Her posts and articles on Pocket Fives have been a huge help to my game and she definitely makes my top 3 list of most fearsome online female players.( Along with Annette _15 and a certain Bristol blogger)I managed to get July off to a...
Renee suggested in a comment that perhaps I needed a break from poker and I've taken that on board....and only played three sng's over the last two nights.I wouldn't have played any if it hadn't been for Katitude posting about the new 300 chip, turbo sngs on Full Tilt!I was previously hooked on Pokerrooms 50 chip multi table bingo poker games for a while and Ladbrokes single chip, all in or fold games also ate a small portion of my roll. The 300 chip games do allow fora little more skill and I love the fact that they are so fast and the bubble arrives in next to no time.I bubbled the first one and won the two other $3.20 games I played.Great fun!I've also watched a couple more sngicons videos this week.I was on the verge of cancelling my subscription as new video releases were becoming rare...
Well done to Juice on doubling his bankroll ( hehe) by correctly answering my football quiz question. The $10 has been sent!If it's always easier to write about bad nights at the tables then this may be a long post!On Monday night I lost about $100 after yet another terrible streak where I couldn't seem to win a hand that went to showdown.I don't use the chatbox in non blogger games but found myself twice answering "np" ( no problem) when other players apologised to me for their suckouts.I was playing more $12,180 player turbos and my only placing from about 10 games was when I bubbled the final table after my AJ shove was called by the shortstacks A6 which hit a 6 by the river.Last night I watched our rivals crash out of European competition and then hit the tables. My bad streak continued...
Don't forget to register for tonights Bloggerment.See above for details.Anyone and everyone is more than welcome to play in it.Find it under the "tourney" and then "private" tab at Pokerstars.Starts at 4pm est ( 9pm uk time) in the Stars lobby.I can't believe I forgot Kats Friday night donkament again! I was chatting to Dudley and Mair and mentioned it to them about 20 mins before the start time ( 2am at Full Tilt ,late on Friday nights)and by the time it came back into my head it was 2.20am!Next week....!Yesterday went quite well.I was at Ibrox to watch Rangers beat Falkirk 2-0 and afterwards I did my weekly shopping and picked Nacho up.After dinner, I watched a couple of cardrunners vids and then hit the tables. My good mate,Al Eleven, left a comment recommending I focus on just one...
Yesterday I took Nacho a long walk, picked Step A up,hit the supermarket and had dinner with the ex and Step A before having a laugh looking up talking dogs on youtube with the wee one.I may call her the "wee one" but she is growing up fast now and everything and everyone is currently gay and life is just so unfair. The ex and I also played her a wee clip of Harry Enfields "Kevin the teenager" as she seems to have turned into Kevina over the last few months...I played the Bloggerment with a fairly carefree attitude this week as the Sun Million began half an hour into it and I wanted to give it as much focus and attention as possible.Congrats to Cogsgoine who won it from Juice in 2nd place.( I bubbled in 4th)I arrived at my Sun Mill table and noticed one pro,Noah Boeken (...
Thanks to all who turned out to play in the Bloggerment on Sunday and congrats to Splunk1, who took it down.I scraped into the money with a 3rd place finish, although by the time were three-handed I was quite short-stacked and was eventually forced to shove unsuccessfully with 104 sooted before I ran completely out of fold equity.I did play a couple of interesting hands along the way.See High on Poker for Jordans excellent analysis of one of them. The other interesting one was where I made a pot odds call ( getting 3-1 from memory) with 910 and got lucky against Wee Gems dominating hand.I haven’t had much luck in blogger tourneys recently and although 3rd place was in the money I had a good think about why I didn’t go on and take it down. The conclusion I came to is that I didn’t take...
I'm tempted to change my blog title to "Zombie mans poker n life blog" after another late night last night.( 3 am) At least I'm a happy zombie!Just over 24 hours until Rosie arrives, and this evening I shall be mostly cleaning and doing washings. My Mum has advised trying to keep the fact that I'm a total slob a secret from Rosie for as long possible! My new front door is being installed right now though, and my dishes gamble has paid off, as my Mum has done 'em!I did watch a couple of cardrunners videos last night and they were both up to the high standard I've come to expect from that site.Sometimes it seems the pro players are all running hot when filming. It was nice to see a video where the pro wasn't hitting everything and was saying the same sort of stuff about "sklansky dollars"...
Last night Rangers managed to lose 3-0 to Lyon and crash out of the Champions league, landing in the Uefa cup.We looked outclassed during the first half and despite rallying well at the start of the second,we probably didn't deserve the point required to qualify.Of course when Lyon were 1-0 up, our striker ,Darcheville, hit the crossbar from about 2 yards out!I left the game feeling gutted and being stuck in traffic for over an hour didn't help either. After listening to some Floyd,I fired up the IM and chatted to Rosie and Mr Edge.Rosie was at her 2nd mtt final table of the day and played very well indeed to come 8th.Meanwhile Mr Edge and I decided to copy Annette_15 and play a sng without looking at our cards. We fired up a $1 standard speed sng and the fun began.I saw the first couple of...
I had to dig deep last night when my first $16 turbo ended after a few hands when my KK fell to AK sooooted, which made a flush on the river. The pain made me almost glad Cog’s KK had held against my AK in the DTD game!I’ve become a far better two tabler over recent months and had another one on the go, until I shoved with 88,Mr A7 insta-called and the seemingly enevitable Ace hit on the turn to send me packing.Sharkscope already had my recent form as “tilt” after going 0/4 without cashing and I was beginning to think I was running into a bad luck brickwall, especially after my JJ fell to good old AK in my third game of the night.I took a minute to tell myself to get a grip and actually quite enjoyed my last turbo of the night,as one fish spent the entire game lecturing another...
I'm torn between buying my Mum a pxf or cardrunners sub for her birthday.Pxf seems more suited to MTT players and my Mum is an avid sng and micro-limit cash player.I've also been very impressed with my own cardrunners sub and I watched another training vid last night to get me in the poker mood.BM's advice has been very useful and I'd appreciate the thoughts of any other pxf/cardrunners subscribers. Before hitting the tables last night I watched a rerun of yesterdays Old Firm game. The celtc fans are using the old "it was the ref's fault" excuse despite the fact he failed to give Rangers a stonewall penalty and wrongly ruled our 4th goal to be offside. Some things never change!I ventured back to $16 ,18 player turbo land last night and two tabled as I'm never going to make any decent profit...
Oh that was so f*ckin' easy! 3-0 to the Rangers today v celtc, with the Nacho man scoring two ( see photos above) and Ferguson banging in the other. It should have been four ( which would have taken us top of the league on goal difference) but one was wrongly ruled to be offside. We were easily the best side today and thoroughly deserved the win.I was also amused by the celtc supporters banner celebrating a 7-1 win over us in 1957, because at halftime the Gers support unveiled one about three times the size informing them of our 8-1 win over them in 1943!! They may try and claim it was during WW2 and doesn't count, but they count the goal scored by their player that day in their official records so it'll do for me!! I paid £50 to get another 256ram added to my laptop and it does seemed to...
After chatting to my neighbours, it seems the tennant who stayed here had big problems with the local "Young team" and I'm 100% sure the broken window wasn't aimed at me.Hopefully word will now get out that he's gone and I'll be left in peace.Someone asked in the comments for feedback on Cardrunners and having watched another video last night I am even more pleased than ever with my investment.I am currently reading Harrington on Holdem and although the worked examples and the thought processess described to reach decisions are excellent,I don't feel it's much of a match for watching a pro talk me through countless decisions over an online poker session.I played two Bet 365 $50 nl, 6 max tables after the vid and the main improvement I've already made to my game was to ramp up my preflop...
What a great result for Scotland yesterday! We beat Ukraine 3-1, with goals from Miller,McCulloch and McFadden. We'll probably still need to beat Georgia on Wed and get a point v Italy which is going to be tough but the team are flying just now so you never know...After watching the game I decided to take the plunge and sign up for cardrunners.com.I chose cardrunners over Pfx mainly because first and foremost I'm a cash player and cardrunners seems more suited to ring games.I watched a couple of the vids and was keen to play some pokey, when my cable tv and internet went on the blink! Called cust services and was told it was a fault in my postcode area and it should be fixed within 24hours! After failing to find a neighbours wireless connection to steal, I dug out my Play station 2, loaded...
