Well I did it. I ventured out of the house and cowardly went where most men have gone before. I went to the blues night. My mate wasn't there when I got there, so I walked into the room, looked around at all the faces looking at me and felt completely gormless... PANIC!!!It was time for fight or flight. I don't know how it happened but I switched onto autopilot to my old crap patter, introducing myself to everyone and making wisecracks (or unwise cracks) to all and sundry. By the time my pal arrived I was all set up and ready to play. By this time I was buzzing, all wound up and pacing around the floor as if I was on whizz, desperate to get a move on.We had rehearsed 5 songs and I wanted to get them done and out of the way. I was standing behind the mike, centre stage, clutching my...

I forgot to include an image of the mood chart that Moonstone gave to me on Wednesday, so here it is...I've used this one before, having previously found it the most suitable chart for me that I could find on the web. If you want a copy you can download a PDF of the mood chart and also the activity chart here.I finished recording the tracks for my latest CD last night and had a listen to them when I got up today. I was dismayed to find that they sound completely different on my hifi and I'll have to remix them probably repeatedly on a trial and error basis on different stereos. I should have just made a start today but the thought of this seems like a huge hurdle... shit ... what a woose I am... and so I have done fuck all today. I feel really deflated. I managed to put on a brave face...
Improving my Delicious command for Ubiquity - 0xDECAFBAD - Mozilla Firefox
Great improvements, but this also highlights how counter-intuitive/confusing Ubiquity commands can be (see my comments on the post - it took me ages to work out how to use the new features, and I still can’t do my usual ‘quote something from the page I’m bookmarking, then add my own comment’ thing).

Jon and the guys are playing on Conan! Watch out for it on September 3rd! Here in the UK I guess we’ll have to wait for some youtube action. But turn on your sets people and blow the ratings to support them. Im super-pleased for them as they have been touring like nobodies business for the last couple of years. I have owned every release they have put out and now they are re-releasing their Album Ode to Sunshine on the 26th August, glad I got the original! Similar Posts:None Found...
Still awaiting the promised phonecall from the CMHT. I won't hold my breath. What a bunch of complete tossers.I saw Portillo yesterday. He was cool and laconic. In his laid back mood he didn't bother me much about the shrinks. I had a rant about my crap treatment and he tried once again to defend his colleagues (as doctors invariably do) and justify why people get lost in the system. I can accept that happens now and again but it happens repeatedly with me. He talked about pressure on services but I emphasised that that wasn't my problem and it certainly didn't excuse them from treating me like shite. He asked about the palpitations, checked my blood pressure and said if they persisted I was to get back to him so he could arrange for me to go on the treadmill for an excercise tolerance...

Theres plenty to get through today, normally there is a bit of a smorgasborg of topics, so decided to divide the round up a bit more topically this week (needless to say the topic headings are hopelessly inadequate), let me know if that is useful: Theology/Church Stuff: Scot McKnight just started blogging through a book Rachel gave me for my Graduation - The Mission of God by Christopher Wright Ill be reading it along with this series.
The Mission of God: Unlocking the Bible’s Grand Narrative
John Stackhouse has written an excellent post for people considering a PhD, well worth a read, it certainly quelled my fantasies of Post Grad work! Jason Clark gives you a peek into his PhD research. Andy White writes a helpful post on the subject of why your visions should be...

Ive started to browse the newly released Apps Store, just out of interest really, not because I have an iPhone. I stumbled across a few interesting apps, particularly for the guitarists out there - Guitar Toolkit, it includes a chromatic tuner Chord Maps Open Tunings Library Metronome Audible Tones for tuning by ear At £5.99 its one of the pricier apps but it might be quite useful to have something like this on your phone. Screenshots from iTunes below: Update: If you cant find the app store in your iTunes store, search for an app company such as AOL then find an app, go to it’s page, then use the tab on the top left to go to the homepage of the app store. This is either pretty good subversive marketing (probably) or someone is going...

I was hoping to continue the 21st Century Missions series earlier this week but I have had no time to get the responses together. Thanks to everyone who has responded so far though, there are some great thoughts and it will be well worth the wait. Theologian Douglas Knight shares some interesting Barthian thoughts on Marriage from CDIII.4. Do you know of any other theological treatments of marriage? Also there is a sample chapter available from the new edition of the Church Dogmatics which will include translations of all Latin and Greek texts, presented alongside the original texts. Tom Smith at SoulGardeners writes a great reflection on how as Jesus-followers, University education should not be primarily motivated by money-making or getting the advantage but by being equipped to...

Yes, only one post since last weeks round up and I have a plethora of posts for you. I am wondering if these round ups are overkill, but I do enjoy cataloging the finds for my own use at any rate. Andy White has re:launched his site with a fancy new design and lots of ‘:’s. Andy is a great blogger and I’m looking forward to reading more of his technology, blogging and Big Life words. I’m starting a new blog series on Missions in the 21st Century, it will focus on responses from guest bloggers and I’ve had some great responses already which I am excited to post over the next few weeks, so keep checking in for that. Cool Tools is a great blog that I keep bookmarked, it features reviews on great books, gadgets and software and always picks up on...

Not True, if you are a Christian then essentially there is no choice about whether you’re a theologian or just ’someone who goes to church’, the question is actually, are you a theologian with good theology or bad theology.Bob Kauflin has written a book, which from what I can gather speaks through the theology of worship, it’s on my wishlist and as with most books on my wishlist I’d love to read it sometime when I have the money to buy it and/or time to read it. Until that time, here’s a quote from it I found on Zach Neilsen’s site about how doctrine just makes life simpler: Theology and doctrine
make life simpler. They protect us from reading verse out of context,
restricting our diet to our favorite passages, and making decisions
based on...

It’s been a while since I’ve written an electric guitar series post, mostly because I haven’t played in months now. A Very sad state of affairs indeed, but since there is no longer any worship band and no amp so there has been no playing. There was good prospect recently when a local music forum I keep an eye on had a very affordable combo amp for sale, I looked into it and decided to buy it. Unfortunately I spoke to the guy twice and made arrangements to collect it and he went completely silent and I havent heard from him since. This happened with a bass amp I tried to buy through the same forum, very fustrating. Less of my woes though and onto the amp itself; Its the Epiphone Valve Jnr. although admittedly I haven’t played it I want to try and review it for use...

I have really enjoyed listening to the Arcade Fire recently, there are reviews and intro’s to Arcade Fire all over the internet so if you don’t know who they are then check some out.I wrote this post because I kept getting loads of hits from google on my last few Electric Guitar Series posts for "arcade fire effects pedals", this was because the post contained info on effects pedals and in the side bar "Im listening to.." section had arcade fire, anyway it was all very confusing for everyone so I tried to source some info on Arcade Fire’s effects pedal and equipment and got quite a bit more than I bargained for from the guys over at "Us Kids know" an Arcade Fire forum. Special Thanks to Mark, Fiona, Ben and Sworfish trombones for their...

The Desire for an iPhoneAs I have mentioned before, Ive had a fair amout of experience negotiating mobile/cell phone contracts and have tried to share some tips on the blog before, but recently I have more or less stopped following the market due to my unsaitable interest in the iPhone.I set my current phone contract up so that it would expire just at the time when the iPhone was released, as I mentioned back then I expected the price tag for the phone but the UK contracts with O2 were extremely over-priced and so I decided to let the contract price calm down a little before I invested. More recently O2 have adjusted the contracts to make them more appealing and less geared to recouping the expected outlays for unlimited data plans, but on revisiting the idea of buyig an iPhone I am...

UPDATE/APOLOGY: To those reading the RSS feed (who likely wouldnt read this update anyway) I published this before some re-formats and spell checks and so it may look a horrendous mess in the feedreader. …and plenty of it! I have been busy this week, but not to busy to pick up some interesting news, links and posts. Apologies for the massive length of this post, but its two round ups in one as I didnt manage my normal mid week round up this week, enjoy:Apple is thinking about offering subcription-based unlimited iTunes downloads Ft reports: "Detailed market research has shown strong appetite among consumers

Today I pass another milestone on the drudge towards death…. well I guess that’s how I’d put it at other times but fortunately my upbeat mood continues and the outlook at the moment seems quite rosey. Yes, I’m 48 today (probably in stones as well as years, thank you depakote). I’m still busy producing music, here’s one of my recent songs, it’s a kinda bipolar blues…. Once again I’ve launched myself on Bebo and MySpace in the hope of finding a musical niche for myself…. so far there has been only one response. But just in case there us a sudden demand for my musical talents I have prepared for performance and bought a kickass valve amp that will blow your head off at 40 paces. Apart from making music and wandering through cyberspace, I’m basically...

My contract is coming up for renewal, its a contract I took just to bide my time until the iPhone was released. Then it was released and I was thoroughly dissapointed with O2’s outrageously poor allowances with extortionate line rental. But now O2 has seriously improved their contracts to make it much more competitive, so the only consierdation now it whether to buy the phone itself, with the 8GB starting at £269 its not a drop in the ocean.Network World posted a 10 pros and 10 cons here. The biggest draw back for me is the slower edge connections outside of wifi networks, any UK users out there want to comment on o2’s EDGE network? Also I would have to change my iPod mindset from "cram it all on" to "pick the ones you want" to move from my chock-a-block 30G...
